Privacy policy

Last updated: 16 May 2026

This policy explains what personal data WizPie Limited collects when you use wizpiebooks.co.uk, why we collect it, how it is handled, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

WizPie Limited is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13559744). Our registered address is 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NE. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@wizpiebooks.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

Contact form

If you submit our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide. We use this information solely to reply to your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.

Newsletter

If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect and store your email address for the purpose of sending you occasional updates about WizPie Books. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by emailing us.

Regional Amazon redirection

If you accept the cookie/storage banner shown on your first visit, the site makes a request from your browser to api.country.is, a third-party service that returns a country code based on your IP address. The country code is then cached in your browser’s session storage and is cleared when you close the tab, so it can be used to redirect you to the closest Amazon store. Your IP address is not transmitted to us or stored by us. If you reject the banner this request is never made and you will be sent to the UK store by default. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the footer. The legal basis is your consent.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address, user-agent, timestamp, and requested page) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not use these logs to profile individual visitors.

Cookies and analytics

We do not set any tracking or analytics cookies. The only piece of browser storage we use is a small flag in localStorage that remembers your cookie-banner choice, and the temporary country code described above (in sessionStorage, removed when you close the tab). No data from either is sent to us.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or trade personal data. We may share data with the following categories of processor strictly in order to operate the website and respond to enquiries:

  • Our hosting provider, for the purpose of serving the site.
  • Our email provider, for the purpose of receiving and replying to your messages.
  • Our newsletter provider, if and when you subscribe.
  • api.country.is, for the regional redirection feature described above.

Where any of these processors are based outside the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision) for any transfer.

How long we keep your data

Contact-form messages are retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. We routinely delete data we no longer need.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request that we delete your data, where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wizpiebooks.co.uk. We will respond within one calendar month.

Children

Our books are designed for children, but this website is intended for parents, carers, teachers, and other adults purchasing on a child’s behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have received data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced clearly on this page.
